HOW IT WORKS

ENGAGE
Our message is simple - we will engage with employers to help young people with learning disabilities on their journey towards life beyond school or college. This may range from a week of work experience, to trips and visits to Supported Internships.

OPEN
Our aim is to open new doors to employers and to provide a number of opportunities that allow a young person with a learning disability to demonstrate to an employer that they have a huge amount to offer. For less able students this will enrich their curriculum and assist with life skills. For the more able, it will be a chance to move closer to paid employment

CHANGE
There are less than 7% of adults of a working age with a learning disability, who are in paid employment. It is stating the obvious to say that this means 93% are not in employment.
This is a huge untapped talent pool of dedicated hard-working people. We aim to help employers to access that group and to change lives.

OPUS

OUR STORY
We have been helping young people with learning disabilities for a number of years. Whilst this is a complex and significant challenge we are focused on a small but critical part of that challenge and that is starting the relationship between employers who genuinely wish to be involved with young people with this challenge and with education providers. Whether it be from a community inclusion perspective or a real desire to diversify their work force. We find employers who truly have a desire to help with this challenge.
We help schools, colleges and Local Authorities to develop strategic relationships with significant local and national employers.

OUR VISION
Our vision is simple - to ultimately increase the number of young people with learning disabilities in to paid employment. To do that we must build partnerships between employers and education providers, to help all students in a cohort who have learning disabilities. However there are two sides to that coin; we also need to demonstrate to employers that this is a good idea, from a CSR perspective from a recruitment perspective, and from a bottom line perspective.

METHODOLOGY
We employ staff who are experienced in finding new opportunities for young people with learning disabilities.. It is all we do each and every day. We love cold-calling! It is through the utilisation of a team with appropriate skills, a focus on a very specific target cohort and an understanding of the nuance of the task, that we are able to deliver such successful projects .
